COVID and fisheries

Covid-19 has affected the earth’s ecosystem in many ways. A team from the University of Florida, U.S. Geological Survey, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations have worked towards answering the question as to how it has affected freshwater fish and fisheries. The team investigated this by surveying fisheries experts and relating the findings to fish catch and socioeconomic status. More information about this study can be found here

From the study there was a report in decreased commercial fishing and reduced demand. Some experts even reported signs of positive fish response where fishing bans allowed fish to rebound, at least in the short-term.
